Minkylicious Bamboo fleece + is a 70% Bamboo, 30% Cotton mix.
Bamboo fleece fabric
The combination of Bamboo with its sustainability and anti bacterial properties combined with the durability of cotton make a great absorbent fabric perfect for use in cloth nappies, breast pads and other items that need an absorbent layer. This is a 340 gsm fabric, which is very soft and thick. Great for many projects and easy to sew and work with.
100% bamboo fabric is not very stable and the addition of the cotton helps to make it hard wearing and long lasting.
Before use
As with all natural fibres, bamboo fleece + will shrink slightly when washed and dried. For this reason we would suggest that you wash and dry the fabric before you cut it out. This washing and drying with also increase the absorbency of the fabric. Most fabrics have some residues from the manufacturing process and this needs to be washed away in order to bring the fabric up to full absorbency.
Our bamboo fleece + comes on rolls of fabric 190 cm wide and with a weight of 340 gsm. With the shrinkage that occurs with the first wash and dry, the fabric will shrink slightly, but will also increase in gsm.
Bamboo
Bamboo fabric is soft and continues to be soft even after washing and use, which is one of the reasons that makes it a popular choice for baby items. It is also highly absorbent, which again makes it perfect for uses such as cloth nappies, and it has become a very popular choice both for fitted nappies and inserts for pocket nappies, as well as bibs, cloth wipes, breast pads and washable menstrual pads.
