Description
Bamboo velour fabric is a beautifully soft fabric with a pile.
Bamboo velour fabric
Made from a combination of 56% bamboo, 24% cotton and 20% polyester. This velour fabric is beautifully soft and wears well. The soft fabric can be dyed or left in its natural, white colour. The softness of the fabric makes it ideal for many uses. Cloth nappies, breast pads and menstrual pads can be topped with this soft material. It also works well in bibs and other baby and children’s clothing items. I have used it myself to make a small soft toy for a baby.
100% bamboo fabric is not very stable and the addition of the cotton and polyester helps to make it hard wearing and long lasting.
Before use
Bamboo velour is made with both natural and man made fibres. You will find that you will get some shrinkage when it is washed and we recommend that you wash before use or sewing. This will also help to remove any residues from manufacturing and increase the absorbency of the fabric. It is fully machine washable and easy to sew and work with.
The fabric comes in rolls measuring approximately 150 cm wide. The gsm of the unwashed fabric is 240 gsm. After the first wash and dry the fabric will shrink slightly, but will also increase the gsm and thickness slightly.
Bamboo
Bamboo fabric is man made from a natural fibre. It has many of the qualities of natural fabrics, being breathable and absorbent. It is also possible to dye bamboo fabric with most fabric dyes. Bamboo is a rayon fabric, which means that it is very soft and that it retains it’s softness after washing and wearing.
Purchase bamboo velour in 50 cm cuts, 1/2 metre and metre lengths or multiples of these.
