Lastin clear elastic from Mobilon, this polyurethane elastic is great for making cloth nappies and other items, it stands up well to chlorine, urine and salt water.

Mobilon lastin clear elastic is loved by many cloth nappy makers as it lasts so well to the things that cloth nappies come up against. Once you get used to using it, it is easy to use, although you may find that it takes a little practice to get it right to begin with. This is a strong and durable elastic, which gives a good finish, and should gather nicely, avoiding pinching and tightness on leg and waist gathers on cloth nappies.

How to use

Before sewing lastin clear elastic, it is best to warm it first, usually in your hands, although some people like to do this in warm water. It should also be stretched to it’s full length at least three times, this will relax the memory of the elastic and give a better finish. Sew with a wide zig zag stitch and a running stitch can create too many holes that put pressure on the lastin and cause splitting and snapping. If you are running your machine backwards and forwards to secure the seam to this before you start sewing the lastin, to avoid putting too much stress and adding too many holes to it.

This lastin clear elastic is 10 mm wide and is sold in lengths of 1 metre.
