Drafting new patterns

It’s been a little while since I’ve written a new blog post for our Minkylicious blog, it’s no real excuse, but I’ve been snowed under with so many other things (from work to children) that it’s just taken a bit of a back seat. While I’m not quite ready to share something I have been working on properly just yet, I thought I’d tell you about the new patterns I’ve been drafting.

New Patterns

Although I’ve done a few tutorials on here already, what I really want to offer is a good range of free patterns for people to use with their minky fabric. I spent today working on some of those new patterns. The plan is that I will draft them and then make some items from them myself, and then ask some of you, if you’re interested to test them out for me. Once they are ready to go, I’ll be writing full photo tutorials on this website for you to follow and the patterns will be free to down load and use. All of the patterns will also be license free, which means that you’ll be welcome to make them to sell, although it would be great if you credited Minkylicious and used our fabrics where possible.

Early stagesWorking on new patterns

So far I’ve actually drafted out about four new patterns, next I will be finishing of my versions of them and then be on the look out for testers. If you think you’d be interested in trying any of them out, let me know. I’ll be looking for feedback on how easy the patterns are to follow, your thoughts on the finished item, and also want to know about fit for some of the things I’m making patterns for.

Heaps of ideas

I’ve got heaps of idea for new patterns, the first few that will be available will be a bandanna bib, a ‘standard’ rectangular bib, and cloth menstrual pads (also known as mama pads) later in the year I hope to add a couple of cloth nappy patterns (both a front closing and side snap) as well as some other things. If there’s anything that you’d particularly like to see a pattern for, then please let me know.
