Any questions? Our FAQ page is the place to get all your answers to those frequently asked questions.

We do indeed. You can find out more on our layby page. We also offer gift vouchers, if you want to buy something for a present but aren’t sure what to get.

We charge a flat rate of $8.50 for all New Zealand urban orders, and $11.95 for all New Zealand rural orders, no matter what size they are. We don’t have a surcharge for smaller orders and we can ship overseas. For more information on our postage and returns policy click here.

What is minky fabric?

Minky fabric is a polyester fabric with a pile, similar to velvet or velour, although the pile is often slightly longer than these fabrics. It is fully machine washable and comes in a range of patterns, prints, and styles. Being a knit fabric, it is easy to work with and is ideal for lots of different craft and sewing creations.

What is PUL fabric?

PUL stands for polyurethane laminated. PUL is  fabric, usually polyester that has been coated with a layer of polyurethane, in order to make it waterproof. Ideal for all kinds of things that need to have a waterproof layer, such as nappies, breast pads, wet bags, menstrual pads and other similar items. Sandwich wraps and snack bags can be made with our food safe version of the fabric.

What do I need to make cloth nappies

You can make cloth nappies from lots of different fabrics and fastenings. PUL for a waterproof layer, bamboo, hemp or another absorbent fabric is usually used for the part of the nappy that soaks everything up. You can use velcro to fasten it together or snaps. It really depends on what type of nappy you are looking to make. A pattern is a good place to start. You can find some free patterns here.

How do I attach snaps?

You will need either snap pliers or a snap press to attach KAM snaps. Unlike the metal snaps that attach using a hammer, KAM snaps stay on well and look professional. They are also very reasonably priced, much cheaper than some other fastenings. Snap pliers are reasonably inexpensive and only need to be purchased once.

How do I use snap pliers?

We supply our snap pliers with a leaflet which gives information on how to use them. You can find directions here, or we can send you a replacement leaflet if you lose the one that came with your pliers.

How do I remove snaps?

Our Kam snaps can be difficult to remove, which is their only real downside. The centre of the snap can be drilled out, or you could try to cut the snap away. Snap removal pliers are the easy way to detach snaps and can be found here. They are a much simpler way of dealing with snaps that you want to remove, than the other methods.

I hope that this has answered your FAQ. If there’s anything else you’d like to know that we haven’t covered, then you can get in touch here. Our blog also covers lots of different topics and may answer some of your questions.
